Magicjack Voicemail

Free voicemail is included in your magicJack purchase.

You may access your voicemail by telephone and through your email.

To Set-Up Your Voicemail:

1. Install and register your magicJack
2. From your telephone plugged into your magicJack, dial your new ten-digit magicJack telephone number

OR
Click the "VMAIL" button on your softphone (the phone displayed on your computer screen).

    3.   When you hear an automated voice message, press the * (star) key.

    4.  When prompted, dial the default password 1234 on your telephone or softphone.

    5.  To change your password and setup your personalized voice greetings, press the "0" (zero) key.

NOTE: Make sure you change your password to ensure your privacy

To Access Your Voicemail by Telephone or Softphone: 

1. 
   
   
   Dial your ten-digit magicJack telephone number from any telephone, including the telephone connected to your magicJack

OR
Click the "VMAIL" button on your softphone (the phone displayed on your computer screen).

    2.   When you hear an automated voice message, press the * (star) key.

    3.   When prompted, dial or input your personal password on your telephone or softphone to access your voicemail and make any changes.

To Access Your Voicemail by Email:

magicjack will send a notification email every time a new voicemail message arrives and will attach the actual message to the email as a .wav file.

• Play back the voice message through your PC without even accessing your voicemail system. You will need to click on the .wav attachement
• Forward the voice message to anyone else via email.
• Save the voice message to your hard drive.

Most of the popular media player formats are supported.

NOTE: Make sure that your voicemails being delivered to your email account are not being sent to your SPAM file. You can unblock the magicJack email address in your email system; AOL, Outlook, Eudora, gmail, etc.

You may not disable the voicemail to email function at this time.

Does my computer need to be on for my voicemail to work?

NO. Voicemail WILL work if your computer is off or your magicJack is unplugged.

If the computer is off OR if you do not have an active Internet connection OR if the magicJack is unplugged from your computer...your magicJack voicemail will receive the call.

Of course, your voicemail will also work if your computer is on and magicJack is active.

How can I use my answering machine with magicJack?

You may use a third-party answering machine with magicJack.

NOTE: magicJack voicemail is set to 4 (four) rings by default. The ring count may not be changed at this time.

To use your own answering machine with your magicJack:

Change the settings on your answering machine to pick up after 3 rings... before the magicJack voicemail picks up.

Please refer to your answering machine's user manual for additional details.

Are there any Bluetooth accessories available for magicJack?

YES.  You may use any Bluetooth compatible headset that your computer recognizes as a sound device.

NOTE: Use the "Switch To Headset" option on the magicJack softphone menu.

Does magicjack need a microphone or a headset?

NO. Use any telephone with magicJack: corded, cordless, portable, DECT or a headset/microphone. If you have a cordlesss phone system in your home or office, simply plug in the base station and your additional handsets will work as normal.

Just think of magicJack as your new phone jack, it's really that simple.

Does magicjack work with 2-line phones?

magicjack will only provide one line of telephone service.

magicJack requires a traditional telephone handset that uses an RJ-11 plug.

What network ports does magicjack use? 

magicJack uses port 5060 and 5070 UDP.

Who don't my computer speakers work?  Why do I have computer sounds coming from telephone?

If your computer's speakers do not work or if you hear computer sounds coming from your telephone:

Windows XP:

1. Click Start

2. Click Control Panel

3. If your Control Panel is in Category View, double-click Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices

If not in Category View, go directly to the Step 4

4. Double Click on Sounds and Audio Devices

5. Click the Audio Tab; the middle one

6. Under both Sound Playback and Sound Recording, select your default audio device (the one you want to use) from the drop down menu

* Never select Tigerjet as your default device

7. Click the box labeled Use Only Default Device; located in the bottom left corner of the window)

8. Click Apply and OK

Windows VISTA

1. Click the Windows Button (Old Start Button)

2. Click Control Panel.

3. If your Control Panel is in Classic View, Double-Click Sound

If not in Classic View, go directly to the step 4.

4. Click on Hardware and Sound.

5. Click Sound.

6. Right-Click on your default device (the one you want to use) and select Set as Default Device

* Never select Tigerjet as your default device.

7. Click OK.

MagicJack - Important FAQ

1. Can I use this when on WIFI? 

Answer: Yes. In fact, you can use this with your wireless internet broadband connections thru companies like: Verizon, Sprint, Tmobile, AT&T, etc. 

2. Do I have to enter my credit card info when I register?
Answer: No, all you need is your email and an address (any address).  

3. How do I activate the Magicjack? 

Answer: There are two ends on the Magicjack. On one end, all you have to do is plug it into a USB port on your computer. Every computer should have 1 or 2 ports in the front of it, if not, it's in the back. On the other end, plug any landline or cordless phone in and voila! You will hear a dial tone... start dialing, you're up and running!  

4. Can I request a specific area code for my new MagicJack line? 

Answer: Yes. When you initially plug in the magicjack, it will prompt you to register your new Magicjack. During this process, a list of area codes will come up. Pick your local area code, then you pick the prefix, and the last four digits will be randomly generated for you.

5. Are there any fees associated with MagicJack that I would have to pay?  

Answer: No, MagicJack comes with the 1^st Year completely FREE. If you choose to continue at the end of your 1^st year, it’s just $19.99 for one year. 

6. If I use a cordless, will I be bound to the computer or can I still walk around the house?  

Answer: You will be able to walk all around the house. Just think of this as the same thing as your home phone service but for only $19.99 a year!  

7. Will this work with a dial up connection?  

Answer: Well, it is recommended to have 128kb/s upload and download. To test your speed, go to www.testmyspeed.com. I've had it work under much lower speeds 

8. Can I give a MagicJack to my relative overseas so that we can talk for free? 

 Answer: Yes! In fact, when they get it, they will be able to call ANYONE in the USA and Canada for free. Anyone can call them on their Magicjack number also. 

 9. What is the warranty period?  

Answer: We can replace the unit within 6 months from the date of purchase
